“First clay court final unlocked—congratulations, @BertBu!” With this celebratory post from the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) on its official page, 23-year-old Bu Yun Chaokete secured his status as China’s new top male tennis player, surpassing Zhang Zhizhen and Shang Juncheng in the live rankings. He is set to officially claim the title in next week’s updated rankings.
布云朝克特是华中科技大学体育学院运动训练2021级学子。值得一提的是，当前中国女网“一姐”郑钦文，也是该校2023级运动训练专业学生。
Bu Yun Chaokete is enrolled in the Class of 2021 sports training program at Huazhong University of Science and Technology’s School of Physical Education. Notably, China’s current top female tennis player, Zheng Qinwen, is also a student in the university’s Class of 2023 sports training program.
布云朝克特的网球之路十分特别，他曾说，“没人跟我走过同样的路。”
Bu’s journey to professional tennis is anything but ordinary. “No one has walked the same path as me,” he once remarked.

2002年，布云朝克特出生于新疆博尔塔拉蒙古自治州，幼时父亲过世，母亲改嫁，他和以放牧为生的爷爷奶奶一起生活。爷爷奶奶不会汉语，生活困难，布云朝克特被送到了乌鲁木齐SOS儿童村。2007年，5岁的布云朝克特被浙江省湖州市网球中心主教练骆勇选中，将他带到湖州学习、训练网球。
Born in 2002 in Bortala Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture, in China’s far west Xinjiang, Bu faced early hardships: his father passed away early in his childhood and after his mother remarried, he was then raised by his grandparents, who worked as herders. With limited Mandarin proficiency and struggling to make ends meet, his grandparents eventually sent him to an SOS Children’s Village (Charity) in Urumqi.In 2007, the five-year-old Bu Yun Chaokete was scouted by Luo Yong, the head coach of the Huzhou Tennis Center in Zhejiang Province, who brought him to Huzhou to learn and train in tennis.
骆勇在采访时曾表示，布云朝克特的身体条件在这些孩子中并不是最好的，但他在训练中绝对是最刻苦的。
Luo Yong previously stated in an interview that, while Bu was not the most physically gifted of the kids (trainees), he was undoubtedly the most hardworking during training.
11岁时，布云朝克特第一次出国比赛，地点是巴黎。他在当时说，自己的梦想是打进世界前10。他还提到在西班牙接受训练时，当地教练问他，你们国家有前100的球员吗？“我跟他讲，我就是下一个前100。”
At the age of 11, Bu competed abroad for the first time in Paris. At thattime, he said his dream was to break into the world’s top 10. He also recalled that while training in Spain, a local coach asked him, “Does your country have any player in the top 100?” His response was: “I told him—I’ll be the next one.”
2024年，布云朝克特的世界排名首次冲进前100，也引发了球迷的关注。
In 2024, Bu Yun Chaokete broke into the top 100 of the world rankings for the first time, drawing attention from fans.
这个眼神犀利的中国小伙，有着与众不同的强韧和霸气，哪怕是面对排名靠前的巨星级选手，他也从不畏惧。
This sharp-eyed young Chinese athlete possesses extraordinary resilience and confidence. Even when facing higher-ranked superstar players, he remains fearless.
2024年中网，布云朝克特与世界第一辛纳隔网相对，虽然战败，但他拼劲十足，尤其是将比赛拖入了抢七局，他绝不服输的比赛气质令人难忘。辛纳也高度评价了布云朝克特的表现，“他很年轻，以后会在大舞台上更有作为。”
At the 2024 China Open, Bu Yun Chaokete faced off world No. 1 Jannik Sinner across the net. Despite suffering a defeat, he fought with great tenacity, notably pushingthe match into a tiebreaker. His unyielding competitive spirit and unwillingness to back down were truly unforgettable.Jannik Sinner also praised Bu’s performance, noting “At his young age, he’s poised for greater achievements on bigger stages in the future.”
2025赛季是小布第一次通过世界排名全程参加ATP巡回赛，这意味着，他有了更大的舞台，也将面临着强度更高的竞争。他的赛程安排得十分紧密，世界排名也一步步上升。
The 2025 season marks Bu’s first full ATP Tour campaign through direct ranking qualification. It is a career milestone that opens up new global opportunities for him while presenting formidable challenges. Despite a grueling schedule, Bu is steadily climbing the rankings.
进入红土赛季后，张之臻、商竣程均因伤休战，小布作为中国男网“独苗”，孤身奋战在赛场上。
During the clay season, Bu carried the torch alone for Chinese men’s tennis, as his teammates Zhang Zhizhen and Shang Chengjun had been both sidelined due to injuries.
5月18日晚，他在ATP挑战赛CH175都灵站的决赛中，获得亚军。
He ended up as the runner-up in the Turin ATP Challenger 175 final on May 18.
同时，他也成为了中国男网单打新任“一哥”。
As such, he has emerged as the top-ranked Men’s Singles player in China.
在央视纪录片《五环之约》中，布云朝克特谈到了新目标：短期目标是冲击世界前50，争取在法网实现大满贯正赛首胜，打破巡回赛五连败困境。
In CCTV’s documentary Olympic Appointment, Bu Yun Chaokete revealed his current short-term goals. He aims to break into the world’s top 50 rankings and secure his first main-draw victory at a Grand Slam tournament during the French Open, thereby ending his five-match losing streak on the ATP Tour.
