March 2025, the East Lake in Wuhan is transformed into a floral haven of bursting color. The newly grown grass, fluttering orioles, and canopies of pink cherry blossoms add to the springtime ambience. Green willows sway gently nearby as the pastel blooms provide a breath-taking backdrop.Following its official opening on March 6, the Cherry Blossom Garden in Wuhan’s East Lake Scenic Area has quickly turned into countrywide favorite. From enjoying cherry blossoms to admiring the bountiful of other flowers, the East Lake Scenic Area has ushered in its 2025 cherry blossom season in style. As a world-famous lake and beloved urban garden, the park has long drawn major crowds to Wuhan each spring.

3月6日，东湖樱花园正式开门迎客后，热度迅速蹿升。去哪儿大数据显示，3月6日至3月9日，武汉东湖樱花园是全国赏樱类景区中热度最高的景点。

After the East Lake Cherry Blossom Garden officially opened its doors to the public on March 6, its popularity skyrocketed. A popular travel website Qunar sited, from March 6 to March 9, the Cherry Blossom Garden in East Lake was the most popular cherry-viewing spot country-wide.

东湖樱花园与日本弘前樱花园、美国华盛顿樱花园并称为“世界三大赏樱胜地”。东湖樱花园占地520亩，园内共栽植樱花10000余株，包含“染井吉野”“大岛”“关山”“八重红枝垂”等80余个优良樱花品种，和全国罕见的“郁金”“御衣黄”2个绿樱品种，早中晚樱无缝衔接，为游客带来一场持续一整月的浪漫盛宴。目前，园内“初美人”“大渔樱”“寒绯樱”和“云南早樱”等300余株早樱已经全部盛放，进入最佳赏花期，主要集中在曲院樱艳、樱花园大草坪、经心书院区域、樱花园西区、飞越丛林等区域。

The Cherry Blossom Garden in East Lake is known as one of the “Three Great Cherry-Viewing Destinations in the World” along with the Hirosaki Cherry Blossom Garden in Japan and the Washington Cherry Blossom Garden in the United States. Covering an area of 520 mu, Cherry Blossom Garden in the East Lake host over more than 10,000 cherry trees. It contains over 80 excellent cherry blossom varieties such as “Somei Yoshino”, “Oshima”, “Kanzan”, and “Yaebeni-shidaresakura”, as well as two rare green-cherry varieties in China, “Yukijin” and “Gioiko”. The early, middle, and late-blooming cherry blossoms are seamlessly connected, bringing a romantic feast that lasts for a whole month for tourists. Currently, more than 300 early-blooming cherry trees in the garden, including “Hatsuhime”, “Ohmidori”, “Kanhi-sakura”, and “Yunnan Early-blooming Cherry”, are all in full bloom and currently at prime viewing time. They are mainly found in places like Quyuan Yingyan, which is one of the biggest cherry blossom research bases in the world. Other spots include the Great Lawn of the Cherry Blossom Garden, the Jingxin Academy area, the western district of the Cherry Blossom Garden, and Zip-line.

步入樱花园，仿佛踏入了一个浪漫的童话世界。粉白色的樱花挂满枝头，微风吹过，花瓣轻轻飘落，如梦似幻。漫步在花径间，可以听到潺潺的流水声，看到林中薄雾轻轻弥漫，增添了几分神秘与浪漫。花树下，一位年轻女士正在与樱花合影。她笑着告诉极目新闻记者：“我特意穿了汉服来拍照，感觉与樱花的氛围特别搭。这里太美了，每一张照片都能拍出大片的感觉。”

Entering the cherry blossom garden is a trip to a romantic yet whimsical world. The pink-white cherry blossoms hang all over the branches. When the gentle breeze blows, the petals flutter down gently, creating a dreamy scene. Strolling along the flower-lined paths, one can hear the gurgling sound of flowing water and see the thin mist gently lingering in the forest, adding an air of mystery and romance. Under a cherry tree, a young lady was taking photos of the cherry blossoms. She told a reporter from Jimu News with a smile, “I specifically wore Hanfu(Han-style clothing)to take pictures. I feel that it matches the mood of the cherry blossoms very well. It’s so beautiful here. Every view here is just picture-perfect.”

日夜畅玩，文化盛宴

Enjoying Day and Night: A Cultural Feast

今年，东湖樱花园日夜畅玩模式全新升级，美景更缤纷，体验更丰富。

This year, the Cherry Blossom Garden in the East Lake has revamped its day and night tours, providing visitors the ultimate cherry-blossom experience.

今年樱花季，东湖风景区推出两大全新的特色赏樱线路。第一大线路是凌波门直通磨山樱园游船线路。日出时分从凌波门出发，8时前抵达东湖樱花园，既可观凌波门日出网红美景，又可赏樱园花海盛况。第二大线路是“楚韵之美”国风游船线路。40分钟的旅程精彩不断，国风舞者仙气飘飘，经典曲目完美呈现，一船打包“游湖、赏樱、换装、茶歇、观舞”等超值体验。

For this year’s cherry blossom season, East Lake Scenic Area has introduced two brand-new exclusive cherry blossom viewing routes. The first route is the water bus route directly connecting Lingbomen to Moshan Cherry Blossom Garden. Leaving Lingbomen at sunrise, you’ll reach East Lake Cherry Blossom Garden by 8:00 am. This gives you time to enjoy the beautiful sunrise at Lingbomen, a crowd favorite among netizens, and the stunning cherry blossoms in full bloom. The second route is the “Elegance of Chu Culture” a traditional Chinese-style cruise route. This 40-minute journey is filled with excitement, featuring ethereal traditional dancers and perfectly presented classic performances, all packed into a boat offering an exceptional experience that includes “lake cruising, cherry blossom viewing, costume changing, tea breaks, and dance watching”.

樱花白昼绚若云霞，樱园夜赏更显风华。9000组灯光点亮亭台楼阁，炫彩灯光秀美轮美奂，灯光所及皆漫天樱花，如梦幻奇境。樱园夜赏时间延长至22时，全天15小时不打烊，从晨曦到星夜可尽享花海浪漫。

During daylight hours, the cherry blossoms shine brightly like clouds and mists, while the night-time viewing at the Cherry Blossom Garden adds an even greater charm. Nine thousand sets of lights illuminate the pagodas and towers, creating a breathtakingly beautiful display of colorful lighting. Wherever the lights reach, they illuminate the cherry blossoms that fill the sky, resembling a dreamy fairyland. The night-time viewing hours at the Cherry Blossom Garden have been extended to 10:00 pm, with the garden’s open hours extending to 15 hours a day, allowing visitors to fully enjoy the romantic sea of flowers from dawn till the starlit night.

此外，东湖樱花园内还举办了丰富多彩的文化活动，让人目不暇接。园内设有13个主题景观和5处表演场景，共18个打卡点供游客尽情打卡。其中，78棵樱花树、樱花盆景、空中栈道、五重塔、经心书院、华莲池、浔樱花涧等为必赏美景。游客可以在空中栈道赏樱，俯瞰整个樱花园的美景；在五重塔、湖心岛、华莲池欣赏国风演出，感受楚文化的魅力。这些活动不仅为游客带来了视觉上的盛宴，更让他们的赏花之旅增添了不少趣味。

Moreover, the East Lake Cherry Blossom Garden has hosted a variety of cultural activities, leaving visitors spellbound. Within the garden, there are 13 themed landscapes and 5 performance venues, totaling 18 options for tourists to enjoy. Among them, 78 cherry blossom trees, cherry blossom bonsai, the skywalk, the five-storied pagoda, Jingxin Academy, Hualian Pond, and Xunyinghua Valley are must-see attractions. Visitors can stroll along the skywalk to soak in the cherry blossoms while overlooking the entire garden; they can also appreciate traditional Chinese performances at the five-storied pagoda, the island in the lake, and Hualian Pond, experiencing the charm of Chu culture. These activities not only provide a visual feast for visitors but also takes their cherry blossom viewing experience to a whole new level.

东湖的春天，除了樱花，还有桃花、郁金香、油菜花等多种花卉竞相绽放，姹紫嫣红，构成了一幅幅美丽的画卷。

Spring at the East Lake welcomes cherry blossoms, peach blossoms, tulips, rapeseed flowers, and various other types of flowers that all bloom in rivalry, creating a vivid tapestry of vibrant hues that resemble fine paintings.

3月中上旬，东湖梅园镇园之宝“国魂”美人梅已进入最佳观赏期，将与早樱共舞，开启梅樱同赏的视觉盛宴。3月中下旬开始，东湖牡丹园的牡丹花、武汉植物园的郁金香、磨山景区的杜鹃花、落雁景区的玫瑰花、马鞍山森林公园的油菜花，都将接续盛放。

In early to mid-March, the “Guohun” beauty plum at East Lake Mei Garden reaches its peak. It blooms alongside early cherry blossoms, creating a stunning display of flowers for everyone to enjoy. From mid-to-late March, the peony flowers in East Lake Peony Garden, the tulips in Wuhan Botanical Garden, the azaleas in Moshan Scenic Area, the roses in Luoyan Scenic Area, and the rapeseed flowers in Ma’anshan Forest Park all successively bloom in grandiose floral display.

Springtime at the East Lake not only sees pink cherry blossoms, but also seas of golden rapeseed flower in Ma’anshan Forest Park and the Wanguo Park along the Countryside Path. Within Ma’anshan Forest Park, a massive 500-mu (about 33 hectares) cover of flowers covers the entire hillside, with layers of golden waves shimmering brilliantly under the sunlight. By the Taiyu Bridge, amidst the flowers, creative markets, nature classes, camping, picnics, and various other activities await your exploration and enjoyment.

武汉植物园内，百花齐绽，生机盎然。水生温室、景观温室里，2万余株热带兰花组成梦幻仙林；标本馆红墙前，玉兰花亭亭玉立；湖畔及林地，郁金香初露颜色，奏响了春日序曲除此之外，园内桃花、梨花、海棠、樱花等几十种花卉争奇斗艳。

In Wuhan Botanical Garden, an abundance of flowers are equally in bloom, bringing the garden to life. Over 20, 000 tropical orchids create a dreamy escape within the aquatic plant and landscape greenhouses. Flanking the red wall of the Herbarium are the elegant Yulan Magnolia currently in bloom. Meanwhile,tulip sline the lakeside and woodland,revealing their first hues in an ode to spring. Adding to this floral explosion, are peach blossoms, pear blossoms, Chinese flowering crabapple,and cherry blossoms.

随着东湖樱花季的到来，文创产品和文创市集迎来销售旺季。各种以樱花为主题的文创产品琳琅满目，吸引了众多游客前来选购。

Cultural and creative products fairs have come up for a better month for sales in the wake of the annual cherry blossom season in Wuhan’s East Lake. A wide variety of cherry blossom-themed cultural and creative products are on display, attracting numerous tourists.

东湖樱花园内的“樱花驿”，不仅有精美的原创樱花文创、自带花香的樱花美食可以带回家，驿站处处可见凤鸟纹、虎座鸟架鼓等楚文化元素，赏心悦目又出片。东湖绿道的湖光序曲广场上，樱花市集“花花游园会”热闹开场。这个市集不仅汇聚了各式各样的樱花手作、文创产品、互动游戏，还有美味诱人的樱花美食等待游客们前来品尝。东湖的手工匠人们也齐聚大李村，手造美物、创意非遗、饮品小食等精选好物汇集于此，带来一场文艺盛宴。

The “Cherry Blossom Station” at East Lake Cherry Blossom Park offers unique cherry blossom gifts and tasty treats for tourists. It also showcases Chu Culture elements, like the Phoenix-Bird Pattern and Tiger-Seated Avian Drum Stands. These features are visually stunning and great props for photos.In Huguang Xuqu Square(one of the main landscapesof East Lake) on the greenway alongside East Lake, “Flowers Carnival”, the cherry blossom fair, opens lively. The fair not only covers all sorts of cherry blossom handicrafts, cultural and creative products,and interactive games but also offers mouthwatering cherry blossom flavored foods for tourists. Besides, craftsmen gather at Da Li Village, thus a selection of fine items like handmade gadgets, creative ICH items, and beverages and snacks, bringing a literary and artistic feast.

从花卉种植、观赏、游玩，到相关文创产品的开发，樱花经济的兴起，不仅仅是文旅业的一次季节性狂欢。它的背后，是东湖风景区对于赏花游产业链的深度挖掘和综合利用。

From flower cultivation, appreciation, and tourism to the development of themed cultural and creative products, the emerging cherry blossom economy isn’t only a seasonal carnival in the cultural and tourism industry. Underlying this trend lies the efforts by the East Lake Scenic Area’s to conduct an in-depth analysis and comprehensive utilization of the floral tourism industry.
