12月8日10时36分，G6803次始发列车从新建成的荆门西站启动，风驰电掣般奔向武汉，标志着全长77.48公里的荆（门）荆（州）高铁正式开通运营。自此，湖北17个市州迈入“市市通高铁”的新时代。
At 10:36 a.m. on December 8, the high-speed train G6803 departed from the newly built Jingmen West Railway Station bound for Wuhan, marking the official opening of the 77.48-kilometer-long Jingmen-Jingzhou High-Speed Railway. Since its launch, 17 cities and prefectures in Hubei have ushered in a new era marked by an “intercity high-speed train”.

在武汉工作多年的荆门人卢伟成为这趟首发列车的旅客之一。得知荆荆高铁即将开通的消息后，他第一时间登录铁路12306APP，买下一张十分有纪念意义的首发车票。
Lu Wei, a native of Jingmen who has worked in Wuhan for many years, was among those on-board for the train’s inaugural run. After learning that the Jingmen-Jingzhou High-speed Railway was about to open, he immediately logged into the Railway 12306APP and purchased his ticket for this landmark debut.
“12月7日，我专门坐绿皮火车从武汉回荆门，就是为了在家乡坐上荆荆高铁的第一趟列车。”卢伟对极目新闻记者说，他先前回老家花了近4个小时，而高铁只需一个半小时就能将他带回武汉。高铁的开通，让他感觉与家乡的距离更近了。
“On December 7th, I specifically took the slow train from Wuhan back to Jingmen, just to be on the inaugural high-speed train from my hometown Jingmen to Jingzhou,” Lu Wei told a reporter from Jimu News. He explained that while it previously took him nearly four hours to return home, the launch of the high-speed train has slashed travel times to Wuhan to a mere hour and a half, bringing him closer to his hometown.

荆门曾因铁路而兴。但随着周边城市陆续接入高铁网，荆门一度成为湖北省17个市州中唯一没有开通高铁的城市，荆荆高铁承载着260万荆门人民的梦想和期盼。
Jingmen once prospered due to its railway system. However, as surrounding cities gradually joined the high-speed rail network, Jingmen became the only city among Hubei's 17 cities and prefectures without a high-speed rail line. The Jingmen-Jingzhou High-speed Railway has realized the dreams of the 2.6 million people of Jingmen.

据了解，荆荆高铁是湖北省全资建设的第一条350公里时速高速铁路，于2020年9月开工建设，共设荆门西站、沙洋西站、荆州站3座车站，其中荆门西站、沙洋西站为新建车站。
According to available information, the Jingmen-Jingzhou High-speed Railway, the first 350 km/h high-speed rail line entirely funded by the Hubei Provincial Government, began construction in September 2020. The line features three stations: Jingmen West, Shayang West and Jingzhou, the first two of which are newly constructed.
荆荆高铁将荆门带入武汉1.5小时交通圈，更深度融入全国高铁网。荆门市圣境山滑翔伞基地教练万秋开心地说：“高铁开通后，肯定会有更多热爱飞行的游客来到我们这里游玩体验。”
The Jingmen-Jingzhou High-speed Railway connects Jingmen to a 1.5-hour transportation circle with Wuhan, further integrating it into the national high-speed rail network. Wan Qiu, a coach at the Shengjing Mountain Paragliding Base in Jingmen, expressed his excitement, stating, “With the opening of the new high-speed rail, we are sure to see more paragliding enthusiasts visit our facility for the experience.”

望着车窗外的风景，60岁的荆门市民庞胜利和老伴也憧憬着更美好的银发生活：“我们计划每个周末都去武汉看孙子，带上娃最喜欢吃的荆门特产矮子馅饼。趁着身体好，下个月我们还要坐着高铁去看看祖国大好河山！”
Gazing at the scenery outside the train window, 60-year-old Pang Shengli, a resident of Jingmen, and his wife also looked forward to a better life in their twilight years. “We plan to visit our grandson in Wuhan every weekend, and bring him his favorite Jingmen specialty Aizi pies. While we’re in good health, we’ll take the high-speed train next month to other places and explore the magnificent scenery of our motherland!”
湖北铁路集团荆荆铁路公司副总经理方立辉介绍，荆荆高铁通过荆州站由汉宜铁路接入全国高铁网。未来，沪渝蓉沿江高铁武宜段、呼南高铁襄（阳）荆（门）段开通后，湖北三大都市圈将形成一小时高铁出行圈。
The Jingzhou-Jingmen High-speed Railway accesses the national high-speed rail network through the Jingzhou Station via the Wuhan-Yichang Railway. In the future, after the opening of the Wuhan-Yichang section of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High-speed Railway along the Yangtze River and the Xiangyang-Jingmen section of the Hohhot-Nanning High-speed Railway, a one-hour railway travel circle will be formed among the three major metropolitan areas in Hubei Province, according to Fang Lihui, deputy general manager of Jingmen-Jingzhou Railway Company of Hubei Railway Group.

2009年，随着京广高铁武广段开通，湖北在全国率先迈入高铁时代。而随着荆荆高铁投产，湖北高铁里程达到2142公里，覆盖省内17个市州，成为全国第8个实现“市市通高铁”的省份。
In 2009, with the opening of the Wuhan-Guangzhou section of the Beijing-Guangzhou High-speed Railway, Hubei became one of the first provinces to enter the high-speed rail era. Following the completion of the Jingzhou-Jingmen High-speed Railway, Hubei’s high-speed rail mileage has now reached 2,142 kilometers, covering 17 cities and prefectures within the province, making it the eighth province in China to achieve “high-speed rail access in every city”.
