12月2日，极目新闻记者获悉，湖北江陵县各部门正启动对两名救人英雄的慰问、表彰和荣誉申报等工作。这背后，是一桩生死时刻感动人心的救援。
On December 2nd, reporters from Jimu News learned that various departments in Jiangling County, Hubei Province, have submitted applications to show appreciation and officially commend the two heroic rescuers. Behind this gesture is a heartwarming yet harrowing rescue story of a mother and her son.

不久前，一江陵女子带儿子驾车时不慎冲进河中。危急时刻，路人陈想和附近的六旬老人王新和跳河救人。在众村民的接力帮助下，被困车中的母子被成功救起，避免了一场悲剧。
Not long ago, a woman from Jiangling, while driving with her son, accidentally plunged into a river. At this critical moment, a passerby named Chen Xiang and a 60-year-old man, Wang Xinhe, who was nearby, jumped into the river to save them. With the help of nearby villagers, the mother and son trapped in the car were successfully rescued, averting a tragedy.

马志奇在江陵县熊河镇一家药店上班，丈夫熊禹在县城做门窗生意，6岁的儿子熊义凡在县城上小学，一家人过着平淡而幸福的生活。
Ma Zhiqi works at a pharmacy in Xionghe Town, Jiangling County. Her husband, Xiong Yu runs a door and window business, while their 6-year-old son, Xiong Yifan attends elementary school. The family leads a simple but happy life.
10月6日，熊禹为妻子马志奇购买了一辆电动四轮车，方便她上下班和接送儿子。第二天下午，马志奇迫不及待地载着儿子在镇上练车。
On October 6th, Xiong Yu bought his wife an electric microcar to facilitate her commute and picking up their son. The next afternoon, Ma Zhiqi eager to practice, took her son for drive in the county.
马志奇说，当天下午没练多久，她觉得已能熟练操控车辆。下午4时许，她驾车来到位于彭市村二组的熊彭路时，不慎冲进了路边的新民渠中。
Ma Zhiqi said that after not much practice that afternoon, she felt she was ready and could handle driving the vehicle. Around 4 pm, while driving on Xiongpeng Road, she accidentally plunged into the nearby Xinmin Canal.
熊彭路是一条笔直的东西向乡村公路，当天虽是假期，但车流量不大。“我不清楚发生了什么情况，有可能是操控失误，车子直接冲进了河里。整个人都蒙了，头脑一片空白。”马志奇向极目新闻记者回忆道，当时车辆是以较快速度冲进水渠的，然后迅速下沉，“车里很快进水，不一会儿就快淹没到顶棚。”
Xiongpeng Road is a straight country road, running from east to west. Although it was a holiday, the traffic was light. “I am not sure what happened. I must have lost control, and the car just rushed into the river. My mind went complete blank.” Ma Zhiqi recalled to the reporters from Jimu News. The car, upon plunging into the water at a high speed, sank rapidly. “The water filled the car quickly, and before long it was nearly submerged up to the ceiling.”
“儿子拼命喊‘救命’，我一点儿办法都没有，急得发慌。”回忆起当时情景，马志奇仍因后怕而控制不住地流泪。她说她当时呛了几口水，没入水中，巨大的恐惧瞬间袭来，但聪明的儿子竟然没有自乱阵脚，挣扎着仰面朝上，尽量不让水淹没到口、鼻。
“My son was screaming for help. I was utterly helpless and panicked.” Ma Zhiqi still could not hold back her tears as she recalled that heart wrenching ordeal. She said, while she choked on water and sank, overwhelmed with fear, her clever son kept a cool head. He struggled to float on his back, trying his best to keep his mouth and nose above the water.
马志奇说，无助的她心里做起了最坏打算，“唯一的信念就是想让儿子脱险。”
Ma Zhiqi felt helpless and had prepared herself for the worst. She said, “The only thought in my mind was to get my son out of danger.”
两男子联手救下落水者
Two men join forces to rescue the victims
“年轻人直接跳下去了，我当时都吓了一跳。”彭市村村民熊传海是事发目击者，她说，她当时看到一辆淡蓝色四轮车由东向西行驶，到彭市村二组村民王新和家门口时突然径直冲向河中，“车子快沉到底下了，老王和一名年轻人跳河救人。”
“I was shocked that the young man jumped straight in.” said Xiong Chuanhai, a villager from Pengshi Village who witnessed the incident. She said that she saw a light blue microcar driving westward, before suddenly plunging straight into the river when it passed the home of Wang Xinhe, a villager from the Pengshi Village. “The car was almost completely submerged when Wang and a young man jumped into the river to rescue the mother and son.”

熊传海口中的“年轻人”便是陈想，他是湖北交投江汉运营公司江陵西管理所的厨师。陈想回忆道，10月7日下午，他从熊河镇的家中驱车前往江陵西收费站，准备当日的员工晚餐，当他沿着熊彭路行驶至彭市村二组时，见到前方一辆同向行驶的四轮车正快速冲向路边，没有丝毫犹豫，他一脚急刹车，靠边停车后，边跑边脱鞋，当他跑到水渠岸边时，看到落水的车辆正在下沉。“水面泛起了很大水花，有人在喊‘救命’。”陈想说，来不及多想他便跳入水中。
The “young man” Xiong Chuanhai mentioned is Chen Xiang, a chef at the Jiangling West Management Office of Hubei Provincial Communication Investment Group's Jianghan Operating Company. Chen Xiang recalled that on the afternoon of October 7, he was driving from his home in Xionghe Town to the Jiangling West Toll Station to prepare dinner for the employees. As he was driving along Xiongpeng Road towards the Pengshi Village, he saw a microcar rushing in the same direction ahead speeding towards the roadside. Without hesitation, he slammed on the brakes, pulled over, and ran towards the river while taking off his shoes. Arriving at the riverbank, he saw the sinking vehicle. “There were big splashes in the water and someone was shouting ‘Help!’” Chen Xiang said. Seeing the dire situation, he jumped into the water without a second thought.
村民熊传海说，紧接着，另一声“扑通”传来——正在家门口歇息的老王也跳入水中救援。熊传海口中的老王便是王新和，事发地也正是他家门口。
Villager Xiong Chuanhai said that another “plop” was heard soon after. Wang, who was resting at his doorstep, jumped into the water to assist. The Wang mentioned by Xiong Chuanhai is Wang Xinhe, and the incident happened right in front of his house.
入水后，陈想听到有男孩在喊“救命”，透过没有完全关闭的驾驶室车窗，他看到前排有一名女性，男孩则在后排挣扎。
Chen Xiang heard a boy shouting “Help!” after jumping into the river. Through the partially open driver's window, he saw a woman in the front seat and a boy struggling in the back seat.
身材稍高的王新和入水后，脚能勉强踩在河底，但因河床有淤泥，他很费劲才能在水中站稳。他说，当时驾驶室的水位快淹没女子的下巴了，女子急迫地呼喊“快报警”。
Wang Xinhe, who is taller, could barely touch the riverbed with his feet after jumping into the water. Due to the muddy riverbed, he had difficulty standing steadily. He said that the water level in the driver’s cab was almost up to the woman’s chin, and she was urgently shouting “Call the police quickly!”
陈想试着拉动车门把手，但尝试多次无用。王新和担心入水的车辆发生倒扣，于是尽全力让半漂浮的车辆保持平衡。
Chen Xiang’s numerous attempts to pull the door handle were to no avail. Worried that the submerged vehicle might flip over, he tried his best to keep the semi-floating vehicle balanced.
“手快伸过来！”陈想朝被困的马志奇喊，但她并不理会，而是拼命拽儿子熊义凡的衣服，想让他先脱离险境。熊义凡心领神会，侧过身将双手伸向陈想，陈想拉住后使劲将其拽出，身后的王新和连忙接住，在闻讯赶来的两位村民的帮助下，熊义凡成功得救。
“Give me your hands quickly!” Chen Xiang shouted at the trapped Ma Zhiqi, but she ignored him and tugged at her son Xiong Yifan's clothes, trying to get him out of danger first. Xiong Yifan understood and turned his body to stretch out his hands to Chen Xiang, who grabbed them and pulled him out with all his strength. Wang Xinhe, who was right behind quickly caught him. With the help of two villagers who rushed over after hearing the scream, Xiong Yifan was successfully rescued.
随后，陈想将马志奇也拉出了驾驶室，但因重力作用她很快下坠。陈想说，他当时使出了全身力气托举着她游向岸边，而他自己只能艰难地露出半个脑袋到水面，忙乱中，呛了好几口水。所幸有了王新和的接力，马志奇也很快被营救上岸。
After that, Chen Xiang pulled Ma Zhiqi out of the driver’s cab, but she quickly sank due to gravity. Chen Xiang said that he exerted all his strength to hold her up and swim towards the shore. However, he could only keep half of his head above the water and choked amidst the chaos. Fortunately, Ma Zhiqi was quickly rescued with the joint help of Wang Xinhe.
英勇救人行为传为美谈
Heroic deeds become a praiseworthy tale
“完了，今天大概要把命丢在这里了！”救出马志奇母子后，陈想已感到筋疲力尽，心里涌起不祥的预感。新民渠水位较深，护坡较陡，护坡上还有大量青苔，他感觉自己已无力爬上岸。
“This is it! I might actually die here today!” Chen Xiang was exhausted after rescuing the mother and her son, and an ominous feeling welled up in his heart. The water level of Xinmin Canal was rather deep, the slope was quite steep and there was a large amount of moss on the slope. Utterly drained, he questioned whether he could make it ashore.
村民见状，赶紧找来绳子，众人拉着绳子才将王新和与陈想拉上来。“年轻人，你手臂流血了！”上岸后，有村民提醒陈想。此时他才发现，原来疼痛的手臂已被划伤。简单处理后，陈想默默离开了。
Seeing the distressed Wang, the villagers quickly found a rope and pulled Wang Xinhe and Chen Xiang up. “Young man, your arm is bleeding!” After going ashore, a villager pointed out to Chen Xiang and only then did he realize that his arm had been scratched. Chen Xiang, after cleaning his wound, left the scene quietly.
11月29日下午，极目新闻记者跟随陈想来到事发地现场探访时看到，虽然是冬季枯水季节，但新民渠的水位依然较深，护坡的青苔上还留有车轮印迹。
On the afternoon of November 29th, a reporter from Jimu News accompanied Chen Xiang the scene of the incident. Although it was the dry season in winter, the water level at the Xinmin Canal was still relatively deep, and tire marks could still be spotted on the moss on the slope.
“水位到我这里，我当时也没想那么多，救人是我第一时间该做的事情。”陈想向记者比划，当时的水位超过1.5米。
“The water level reached here on me, but I didn’t think too much at that time. Saving lives was my priority,” Chen Xiang said and gestured to the reporter. The water level at that time was over 1.5 meters.
“看到危险就要救，这是我们河南人的性格。”回忆起一个多月前发生在家门口的险情，王新和说。
“Whenever we see people in danger, we will definitely save them. That’s who we are as Henan people,” Wang Xinhe said when recalling the harrowing ordeal that happened right at doorstep over a month ago.
据了解，今年65岁的王新和老家是河南南阳，1987年迁居湖北江陵，乡里乡邻待他很热情。“儿子、孙子都在江陵出生，他们算是新荆州人。”王新和说。
Wang Xinhe, a 65-year-old man originally from Nanyang, Henan, moved to Jiangling, Hubei in 1987. The villagers in the neighborhood treated him warmly. “My son and grandson were both born in Jiangling,” Wang Xinhe said.
11月29日晚上，正在药店上夜班的马志奇告诉极目新闻记者，被救后，她和婆婆四处打听救人英雄的名字，兜兜转转才得知救命恩人是陈想、王新和。
On the evening of November 29th, Ma Zhiqi, who was working the night shift at a pharmacy, told the reporter that after being rescued, she and her mother-in-law inquired everywhere about the names of the heroic rescuers. After much effort, they finally learned that it was Chen Xiang and Wang Xinhe.
连日来，在熊河镇，陈想和王新和的救人行为被传为美谈，提及两人的名字，人们都会竖起大拇指。
In recent days, the heroic deeds of Chen Xiang and Wang Xinhe have gained traction in Xionghe Town, with many praising the duo whenever their names come up.
马志奇说，两位萍水相逢的人的见义勇为精神感染了他们全家，“我也要做这样的人，把这份爱传递下去。”
Ma Zhiqi said that the courageous and noble spirit shown by these two strangers who happened to cross paths has inspired her whole family. “I also want to be that type of person and pass on this kind of love,” she said.
