2月21日，农历二月初二，屈原故里湖北秭归县在“中华屈氏第一村”归州镇万古寺村举行“二月二龙抬头 屈氏家风赛传‘橙’”活动，丰富多彩的民俗活动轮番上演，千余民众共度“二月二龙抬头”这一喜庆的节日。
February 21, the second day of the second month in the Chinese lunar calendar, was the traditional festival Dragon Head-raising Day, and a celebratory activity of “passing oranges” was held in Qu Yuans' hometown Wangusi village, Guizhou town, Zigui county, Hubei province. A variety of other traditional activities were also performed by thousands of people celebrating the happy festival.
2018年，为充分展示推介我国各地优秀的传统文化传承，农业农村部推出了“5个100”，秭归“二月二龙抬头”成为100个乡村文化活动之一。自此每年的二月初二，秭归群众聚集万古寺村，祈福平安喜乐。
In 2018, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs launched “Five Hundreds Project” to fully display and promote the excellent traditional cultures around the country. The Dragon Head-raising Day celebration in Zigui county was one example of rural cultural activities promoted by the project. Since then, on this day each year, people in Zigui county gather in Wangusi village to pray for peace and happiness.
“理发去旧”寓意丰收安康

当天上午，万古寺党员群众服务中心广场上，锣鼓喧天、欢歌萦绕，演员们为游客奉献了精彩纷呈的表演。独具特色的三峡渔鼓将《屈原精神放光芒》娓娓道来，省级非遗传承人郑承志带领大家一起诵读《橘颂》，《花果同枝》唱出了秭归脐橙硕果累累、果农丰收的喜悦。
With the sound of instruments and songs, actors gave wonderful performances for tourists on the square in Wangusi village that morning. The Spirit of Qu Yuan was conveyed through a percussion instrument made of bamboo. Zheng Chengzhi, the provincial inheritor of intangible cultural heritage, led everyone in reciting Ode to Orange, and the song Flowers and Fruits expressed the joy of harvest.
现场“橙”意满满，活动邀请八方来客免费品鉴屈乡这片沃土“诞生”的红肉脐橙。“橘颂杯”秭归县首届红肉脐橙品鉴颁奖活动上，历经多位专家的严格“考核”后，来自秭归县董橙果蔬家庭农场的脐橙脱颖而出，成为当天的“脐橙王”。
The guests from various parts of the world were invited to taste navel oranges produced in Qu Yuans hometown for free. At the “Orange Cup”, the first award ceremony of red navel orange tasting, the navel orange from Dongcheng Family Farm in Zigui County stood out and crowned winner.
“二月二”这天，民间一直有“理发去旧”的说法。活动中，评选出的秭归县“十佳理发店”闪亮登台，城市的烟火气在舞台上逐渐升腾。“冬去春已来，鼓舞了我们的发展信心”，秭归市民程健如此感慨。
There has been the custom of getting a haircut on Dragon Heads-raising Day, which has the connotation of embracing the new year with a new look. Therefore, haicut has become a part of the celebrating activities. The “Top Ten Barbershops in Zigui County” were voted and honored on the stage. “Winter has gone and spring has come, which has inspired our confidence in development”, said Cheng Jian, a citizen of Zigui County.
屈原精神生根发芽，培育出勤劳简朴、坚强勇敢的屈氏后人，他们成为弘扬中华民族优良传统美德，助力乡村振兴不可或缺的力量。傅永珍、熊金刚等36名群众身边的先进典型走上舞台，分享着荣获“三好”称号的喜悦。
The spirit of Qu Yuan nurtures the diligent, simple and brave descendants of the Qu family, who have become an indispensable force in revitalizing the countryside and advocating for the traditional virtues of the Chinese nation. Fu Yongzhen, Xiong Jingang and 36 other role models came to the stage and shared their joy of winning the title.
舞台不远处，历经300多年沧桑的屈氏宗祠静静伫立。当天，捐资建设屈子书院项目正式启动，通过湖北省慈善总会幸福家园村社互助方式助力屈氏宗祠改建为屈子书院，让屈氏后裔祭祖朝圣地、文人墨客心灵归属地、中华儿女魂牵梦萦地焕发新的活力。
Near the stage stands the Qu Yuan Ancestral Hall, with a history of more than 300 years, which is the holy land of the descendants of Qu Yuan, the spiritual home of the literati and Chinese people. On the same day, the project of the conversion of the Qu Yuan Ancestral Hall into Qu Yuan Academy was officially launched. With the help of the Mutual Aid Project of the Happy Home and Village of Hubei Charity Federation, the cultural relic is expected to get its rejuvenation.
台上高潮迭起，台下大人孩子欢声连连。10多个小孩排排坐，只见师傅们拿起梳子剪刀，为孩童“剃龙头”，借龙抬头之吉时，保佑孩子健康成长。
The performances on the stage was punctuated by bursts of applause from the audience. More than 10 children sat in rows waiting for a haircut, as legend goes, they will grow up healthily, because the Dragon Head-Raising Day is said to be a lucky day to get a haircut.
“请龙入水”祈祷风调雨顺
Honoring the Chinese Dragon and Praying for Good Weather
当天中午12时，古老的龙舟下水仪式在长江支流香溪河畔举行。当地屈氏后裔带领村民拜祭龙头，祈祷风调雨顺，五谷丰登，嘉宾为龙头披红点睛。伴随着划手的呐喊声与礼炮声，合力“请龙入水”。
At noon that day, the ancient dragon boat race opening ceremony was held on the Xiangxi River, a tributary of the Yangtze River. The local descendants of Qu Yuan led the villagers to worship the dragon head, praying for good weather for the crops, and the guests were invited to paint the eyes of the dragon. Accompanied by the shouts of paddlers and the sound of firecrackers, they joined forces to launch the dragon boats.
在人群的簇拥下，双龙出洞巡游。鼓一敲，镲一响，两条“金龙”腾挪翻飞，瑞狮摇头摆尾。闻声而来的群众携老扶幼，越聚越多，欢乐的锣鼓声中，彩船起舞，喧嚣连连不断。
As soon as the gongs and drums were sounded, the paddlers rowed the boats swiftly as if two golden dragons flew in the sky. Hearing the joyful sound, more people flocked there to watch the dragon boat show with cheers.
“下水咯！”战鼓齐擂，5艘龙舟竞相入水，一艘艘龙舟似蛟龙出水，劈波斩浪。挺立在舟头的鼓手双槌齐下，桡手随着鼓声节奏奋勇挥桨，一时齐头并进，一时你追我赶，好不热闹。
As the sound of the drums marked the beginning of the dragon boat race, five dragon boats raced into the river, resembling a scene of Chinese dragons breaking out of the water and cleaving through the waves. Oarsmen paddled vigorously under the inspiring drumming by drummers standing at the bow of the boats. For a time, these boats kept abreast with each other, and for another time, they chased after each other, making this race extremely exciting.
水手们沿着香溪河道贺，祈求码头四季平安、村民生活幸福，村民则鸣鞭炮回礼，“拜码头”礼成。
As the boats went along the Xiangxi River, the oarsmen would pray for peace over the wharf all year round and wish the villagers happiness. The villagers would then light firecrackers to express their gratitude. This signified the successful completion of “Baimatou”, a tradition practiced on Dragon Heads-raising Day.
龙舟竞渡结束后，归州镇组织开展了传统龙舟文化研学活动，宜昌市龙舟制作技艺非遗传承人郑祥龙为中小学生讲授龙舟起源、秭归传统龙舟民俗和龙舟制作技艺等知识，孩子们听得津津有味，特意为本届“二月二龙抬头”活动组织了主题绘画展。
After the race, educational activities were organized in Guizhou Town for people to learn more about the traditional dragon boat culture. Zheng Xianglong, an inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage of dragon boat making skills in Yichang, explained the origin of the dragon boat, the traditional dragon boat customs of Zigui County and the dragon boat making skills to primary and secondary school students, all of whom listened with great interest. A festival-themed painting exhibition was also specifically organized for this years event.
此外，活动现场还举行了特色民俗文化表演、猜灯谜、农副产品展销等各种活动，热闹场景“眼花缭乱”。
In addition, a variety of activities such as performing characteristic customs, solving riddles, exhibiting and selling agricultural and subsidiary products were held at the site of the event. With so many interesting activities here, people simply could not take them all in.
据了解，归州镇万古寺是屈氏后裔聚居地之一，也是海内外屈氏后裔寻根问祖的圣地，有着“中华屈氏第一村”的美誉。随着乡村振兴与全域旅游兴起，万古寺村从“节庆热”逐渐演变为“全年热”“全域热”。
It is understood that Wangusi Village in Guizhou Town, the First Village of Qus Family in China, is not only one of the settlements for the descendants of the Qu family, but also a sacred place for Qus descendants both at home and abroad through which one can trace their roots. With the development of rural revitalization and all-for-one tourism, Wangusi Village has gradually evolved from a tourist attraction only popular on festivals to a scenic spot popular all the year round.
秭归是屈原故里，也是著名的龙舟之乡、脐橙之乡、民间文化艺术之乡。“本次活动借‘二月二’春回大地、万物复苏的美好寓意，通过文化搭台、经济唱戏，激发群众精气神，聚力推进乡村振兴，大力弘扬屈原文化。”归州镇党委书记刘卓说。
Zigui County is the hometown of Qu Yuan and home to the dragon boat, navel orange and folk art. “On Dragon Heads-raising Day, everything is full of exuberance and vitality. Our event makes full use of this auspicious meaning and endeavors to develop the economy through cultural so as to stimulate the spirit of the masses, pool strength to promote rural revitalization and carry forward the Qu Yuan Culture”, said Liu Zhuo, Secretary of the Party Committee of Guizhou Town.
