Wuhan Metro Line 2, the first subway line in Wuhan and the first subway line across the Yangtze River in China, was put into operation on December 28, 2012.
Running through seven urban areas of Wuhan, it has become the busiest cross-river subway line in the country in past ten years.
From 2012 to 2022, Wuhan Metro Line 2 has transported 2.7 billion passengers, accounting for 34 percent of the total passenger volume in the city.
During the ten years, the number of operating metro lines in Wuhan has increased from 1 to 11, the number of operating stations has jumped from 26 to 282, and the operating mileage has extended from 29 km to 435 km, growth of which ranked top five in the country. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Ruan Xinqi)
